We are currently working on a project that will require the help of the users, and the lurkers of Neurox. The project is to create an image gallery for the American Idol tour concert. Basically, this gallery will be a collection of pictures gathered from most of the concerts. The image gallery will be set up where certain members can upload pictures to an online album on Neurox. The album will be listed by concert date and city. Unfortunately, Neurox does not have the funds to send me to all the shows to take pictures , but hopefully we can get you guys to help us out. We are looking for people who are heading to the concert, have cameras, and are willing to help Neurox create this gallery. If you're interested in helping us out please contact me (rewobo), or true_charisma. Provide us with the following information: e-mail address, date/location of the concert your attending, type of media (digital camera, regular camera & scanner, regular camera & want to have it scaned by us*).

* For those of you that do not have a scanner or a digital camera and want to participate in this. We will set it up, where user can send us the pictures they want upload. Details will be given if people is interested in this option.

Just wanted to give everyone who checks the website out some new info. We're finished the forum upgrade and everything is running smooth as silk again. We've also done a lot of expansion and added many new forums, especially in the Clay forum. There's almost 3,000 users and more registering by the minute so you'll always find someone online to chat with.

We also post all new videos exclusively on the forums for now so stop by and register.

We've finished all our background work for the forum upgrade. The test conversions have gone well and we've tentatively scheduled the upgrade to occur at 4AM EST (1AM PST) on Saturday June 14th. The upgrade will take approximately 1-2 hours. During this time the forums will be offline and will be back up when the upgrade has been completed. We would like to apologize for the delay and thank you for your patience during the past few weeks of forum sluggishness. We hope the upgrade will speed things up significantly.

I would also like you all to say thanks to Buzz and give him a big hug as he was the mastermind behind the entire upgrade. Without him we would still be getting those CGI errors till who knows when .

Consumers will vote with their dollars next week when "American Idol" winner Ruben Studdard's debut single is released on the same day as that of runner-up Clay Aiken. Both are due Tuesday (June 10), less than three weeks after the finale of the Fox reality show/talent contest's second season.
Studdard and Aiken will be seen promoting their singles Tuesday on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." The "American Idol" -themed episode of the syndicated show will also feature first season runner-up Justin Guarini, whose self-titled RCA album will be released that day.

It's been asked many times what will happen to this site after American Idol 2 ends. We dropped a few hints here and there but nothing was said for sure until now. This post contains our official plan for the future as we see it.

I'll start off by addressing the websites (aidol.neurox.net). Aidol.neurox.net will be staying. The individual contestant pages will be gone with the exception of Ruben's (ruben.neurox.net). Don't worry; we'll still have all the media we currently have available on that site. Any additional media we come across from voted off contestants of American Idol 1 and 2 will also be posted on this site. Our site will be somewhat similar to idolonline.org for those of you who are confused by this. The address may change from aidol.neurox.net to some .com address, but for now we have no plans of changing it. Ruben's site will most likely get a slight redesign and a few added features. As for Clay's site (clay.neurox.net), I'll be discussing that further down in this post.

That is what we currently have planned for aidol.neurox.net at the moment.

The forums are the next big change we have planned. Many of the regular visitors of this site may have noticed that there have been frequent periods of downtime over the past 5 or 6 weeks. The problem mainly occurred on days which American Idol aired. This caused many headaches for us (the admin’s) as it probably did for you. The server loads on those days were just too high for our server to handle. We have purchased a new machine and are currently working behind the scenes to set it up.

Now I'll get into the specifics of the forum changes.

Idolforums.neurox.net will change to www.idolforums.com. We'll be merging all of the contestant forums except for Ruben's into one contestant archive forum. There are simply too many forums to keep right now and half of them have next to no activity. We'll be keeping the General Discussion forum, Kelly Clarkson forum, Ruben Studdard forum as well as the Miscellaneous forums. What we'll be adding to www.idolforums.com are a Canadian Idol and American Juniors forum. A single forum for each in which you can discuss the said shows. We may add more forums depending on the demand for them but for now, that's all we have planned for IdolForums.

Ok now before all the Clay fans jump me, I'll get into our plans for his site.

Clay.neurox.net will remain open. Like the Ruben Studdard site it will also get a redesign. In addition to the redesign, we'll be adding many additional sections such as News, Appearances, Bio/Facts, Image Gallery, etc. It will be more like your typical fan site.

Earlier I stated that all the kicked off contestant forums will be put into an archive on IdolForums.com. This is true for the Clay Aiken forum as well. We will however be opening up www.AikenForums.com, a forum solely based on Clay Aiken. This new forum will open up at the same time as the IdolForums.com server move. We're currently working on it so that nobody will have to re-register for either forum or lose their post counts.

We're aiming the IdolForums.com and AikenForums.com site launch for the May 30th weekend but this may be pushed back to the June 6th weekend. There are still a few issues we have to work out before we can go ahead with the change. While we make the changes, the forums will be down for a period of a few hours. We'll try our best to do this during off hours (3am). Either way we'll give everyone at least 24 hours heads-up notice.

The website changes will take place following the forum changes. With all the changes we're making we'll require quite a few new moderators for the forums as well as site admin’s to help with updating the websites. Don't message us about becoming a mod/site admin; we'll be doing the asking.

To wrap it up, we're making a lot of changes for what we believe to be the better. We appreciate all your support through our run so far as well as your continued support through our future changes. Who would've thought we'd become this popular after a mere 10 weeks? Certainly not me that's for sure.

Yesterday I had the unusual experience of spending the day backstage at American Idol. I’m sure it's quite a scene on a regular day, but yesterday was off the scale because Oprah Winfrey arrived with an entourage so she could tape an episode of her show after Idol's taping.

A new American Idol won't be named until May 21, but the remaining competitors — the final four — already can consider themselves winners.
"We've all won, just to get this far. Even the person who leaves this week — please, God, don't let it be me — is No. 4 out of 70,000," Clay Aiken says.

50 Cent Holds Off 'Idol' To Return To No. 1
AI 2 "Love Songs" sold 101,000 copies in its initial week to land at No. 2 on the chart. Despite a higher debut, the set didn't have as much pop as a collection from the Fox talent contest's first season, "American Idol: Greatest Moments." That compilation sold 146,000 copies in its first week, and entered the chart at No. 4 in October. To date, about 600,000 copies of the album have been sold.

Okay, we’re all thinking it so let’s just put it out there right now: Josh Gracin is not going home. But ''To Love Somebody'' was at least four billion times better than anything he’s ever sung this competition.

We have decided to make the premium server more of a perk to donators of Neurox instead of being a subscription based service. Basically you just donate to us like some of you have been in the past, and we give you access to a mirror of the current site which has much better load balancing and redundancy. If you like this site and are frusterated with the current server speeds and/or other issues you may be encountering, this could be for you.

This perk would come to those who donate $3 or more (for highspeed access) and $1 or more (for dialup access) and be good for 30 days. As previously stated you'll be able to download 1 gigabyte for each dollar donated. If you feel you want to download 5 gigabytes in a given month, make a $5 donation and you will be given access to do so. For those highspeed users who feel this is too much but really want the zippier downloads, you can get together with a friend and split the donation. You will be allowed 2 simultaneous downloads at the same time.

If you feel we're doing this as a way to make money, we're not. As you may have noticed, we don't have a single banner anywhere on our sites or forum. This has been something we're doing solely to help out the American Idol community and for the fans who enjoy watching their videos and also listening to their music. Basically what your donations go towards is helping pay the costs of operating our network and keeping us afloat.

WOW!! Tonight is what more or less should have been happening the last 7 weeks! Everyone was playing hardball and giving it all they had. The guest Neil Sedaka judge was questionable however. You'd think they'd be able to get more relevant people in that chair. (Don't criticize me just yet for that comment.) But the best part of tonight's show is not that everyone is singing twice, but that they won't have any time for lame episode filler due to all the performances. YEE-HA!!!! I'm sure they'll make up for it during tomorrow's full hour show.

This year's IDOL show doesn't seem to come close to the excitement that was drummed up by last years show. Sure, more people are watching now, but I think last years people were far more consistant and "entertaining" as a whole. Everyone has their favorites this year, but I think this crew is not nailing it week after week. Anyway, we got our second good theme in a row with Diane Warren night. And to improve on Billy's absence last week, she was even on the panel. I wish she had been more forward since these are her songs after all. I would like to hear her comments after the show when she really speaks her mind.

That's right folks! We know you've been patiently waiting for the return of kelly.neurox.net and now we have finally made it LIVE!!!

As you may have noticed, we've also added a dedicated forum for Kelly which is now the new home of all her media, including performances from various interviews and appearances on American Idol season 2.

In addition, we've done some general maintenance work and have moved all solo media into that particular contestants forum. (ie: Trenyce's media will now be in Trenyce's forums instead of General Discussions and so on for all other contestants.) Group performances and season 2 extras will continue to reside in the General Discussions forum.

I've heard rumors of the Billy Joel theme and happy to see they were correct. But now I'm mumbling various profanities due to the fact that we have Smokey Robinson sitting in with the judges. My guess is Billy couldn't make it. Too bad too, because Smokey looks wierd. He looks normal I guess, but all the pieces don't seem to fit.

And the topic is... #1 Billboard Hits!! They've improved on the theme at any rate. Ryan's hair even seems to be more manageable and tame. And speaking of tame- our guest judge is Lionel Richie. Why do we keep getting B grade celebrities? Why put "has beens" in the hot seat who would do anything to get a comeback? You know they won't say anything truly critical for fear of upsetting anyone. All these bland "well-done"s just aren't useful to anyone.

We're just about finished posting tonight's stuff. We're currently trying to get the Mustang commercial.

There were some hiccups with several of the Judge's Critiques videos for last night. Those problems have been fixed.

We've seen some impressive numbers on our performance monitors for our web and content servers tonight and at our peak, we were pushing around 38.1 mbps upstream on our content server alone.
